Introduction
This theme furthers the two previous meditations on “how to manage thought” and “internal dialogue” in which we explored the important role of thought. In Full-Presence Meditation, rather than looking for the void, we are invited to become aware of the contents of our thought and to dialogue with them. But beyond this, Full-Presence Meditation brings us to connect with the inner thinker from the locus of the Sensible, when we are resting in a posture that overlooks the experience.
Here are two quotes to remember:
“By the word ‘thought’, I mean everything that occurs within us, as long as we are aware of it.”
Descartes
“Thought is the thought of perception.”
Merleau-Ponty.
Here is the step-by-step approach to connecting with our thought unthought and the emptiness of thought.
Establishing the three fundamentals of the meditation
- Summoning the inner life of the body Sensible
- Becoming receptive to inner manifestations
- Experiencing the inner movement – witnessing the appearance of the inner movement which conveys a thought that is Sensible
- Looking for a thought that arises before being thought, before being put into words
- 5. Exploring the feeling of emptiness of thought combined with other forms of temporal and spacial emptiness. Convoquer l’intériorité du corps sensible
