Live Meditation with Danis Bois – 1 Septembre 2021 – Building a group spirit and answering our fondamental needs (#27 replay)

This meditation is the first of our third term. New participants are joining us and so I proposed a basic meditation to build group cohesion with the following idea in mind: under certain circumstances, distance is an illusion, as is proximity. We need to learn to reduce the distance between us (10 different countries and several continents), to bring together the greatest number of participants, to bring into cohesion the diversity within the group and the various objectives of the participants.

To do this, I have revisited the main conditions that are likely to foster a group spirit dynamic.

The main conditions that create a group spirit dynamic and unify the group

  1. Respecting the verbal instructions: hearing them and resonating with them,
  2. Carrying out the same task, at the same time,
  3. Creating the conditions for silence, listening to it, inhabiting it together so that the silence becomes animated for all,
  4. Perceiving the inner movement which constitutes the most unifying channel in the type of meditation I offer: as soon as we feel the movement, we are together,
  5. Opening our perceptual field to the collective: remembering that we are not meditating alone, but in a group,
  6. Directing our thought towards others, towards the world and flooding it with benevolence, compassion and empathy,
  7. Taking care to unfold the active principle of the meditation beyond ourselves.

Meditating to answer our fondamental needs

  • We all need silence and calm: “Connect with the part of yourself which aspires to silence and calm”.
  • We all need to remove ourselves from noise and agitation: “Appreciate the stillness of your whole body, and also of your mind”.
  • We all need to step back from our life: “The silence and the stillness allow you to slow your pace, to take your time”.
  • We all need to remove ourselves from the external world: “By closing your eyelids, we take the decision to cut ourselves off from the world for an instant, and to observe ourself by placing our gaze within ourselves”.
  • We all need a relationship of quality with the world and with others: “It is a moment to think about others, to open ourselves to others, to think about a loved one, to think about the current situation in our society”.
  • We all need more humanity in this world in which we live.
